Remote work has gone mainstream in 2020 and with that location independence suddenly has become a possibility for millions and soon maybe billions for workers.
Now imagine how many people will relocate once they're not tied to a place by their work anymore.
How to build a Digital Nomads Village Ecosystem?
Digital nomads choose their destinations based on several factors which influence both living and working in a certain country. The most important factors are the following ones:
- 7 Cs (Community, Coworking, Coliving, Conferences, Colearning, Collaboration & Cobalancing)
- Infrastructure (Broadband Internet, stable & fast)
- Community (Likeminded people with same interests)
- Flexible Accomodation / Cost of Living (By your own / Coliving)
- Cafés (Stay as long as you like)
- Teach the local entrepreneurs about the needs of Remote Workers

How Digital nomads choose their destinations
• Cost of life (digital nomads usually prefer to go to countries with weaker currencies than to countries where their business is registered so that they can afford a more comfortable life);
• Infrastructure (especially transport infrastructure, because connectivity is one of the most important factors of their lifestyle);
• Transportation costs (to a given destination and then from that destination to a next planned destination);
• Weather conditions/Season and air quality;
• Internet coverage and speed;
• Safety (including a low crime rate, tolerant and open society, low racism, LGBT friendliness);
• Bureaucracy and corruption levels;
• International community, events, and nightlife;
• Culture and architecture;
• Food choices.

Step-by-Step (Gonçalo Hall, Creator of the Digital Nomad Village in Ponta do Sol, Madeira - Video WCD 2021 The creative approach to the future of digital nomad and remote work tourism)
1- We created a community destination in a village. Villages were built around a community and so many are now empty, it's easier to build a community in a village. Humans seek human connection.
2- The support of the government. Governments should work with entrepreneurs and community leaders to make things happen faster. Startup Madeira team worked long hours projecting the coworking space, making calls, partnerships with locals, solving problems, promoting, educating. Entrepreneurs like to move fast and break things. Perfect marriage.
3- We are as human-centric as someone can be. It's not about tourism, it's about human connection, nomads connecting, locals connecting.
4- Empowering people. We are empowering both locals and nomads to create events, make an impact and create.

Are you planning to open a coliving space and would like a market analysis?
So the hotel room alone is not enough. This is where the innovative idea of modern coworking spaces in tourist areas of Switzerland must come into play. It is important that tourism managers are familiar with the requirements of remote workers and digital nomads.

A coliving is a place where people form long-lasting friendships and relationships. Some people even meet their partner for life. A coliving creates an experience where human interactions are key - connections and a sense of belonging are created. It is a safe place for people to meet. It is a place where ideas are born and dreams become a reality. It is a place where people push each other to go beyond what they thought was possible and give the best of themselves.
We carry out a multi-stage assessment on site and provide you with a detailed implementation plan.

Basic Offer: One day Workshop at your location in Switzerland

In the last months, home office has become a big topic and has probably shaken up the working world for the future. How much of this effect will actually remain remains to be seen. In any case, the topic of (location-independent) remote work (and the associated global movement of digital nomads) will occupy us in the future, or rather it will permanently change and shape our working methods and forms of work ("future of work").
Remote work has become a new way of working for millions of people, maybe even for billions in the foreseeable future.
This workshop will focus on the following topics:
- What is remote work?
- What are digital nomads?
- What is behind the terms coworking, coliving, coworkation?
- What opportunities does this open up for tourist destinations (and mountain villages)?
- How can you position yourself as a digital nomad village and what are the (necessary) prerequisites?
This workshop is aimed at tourism service providers, hoteliers and representatives of municipalities and organizations from the mountain area.
Date: One full day on your choosen date: 09.00 a.m. - 4.00 p.m.
